How would PEGylation affect the generation and scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) by Au nanoshell/silica core (GNS) nanoparticles? Would PEG attenuate or enhance the ability of GNS nanoparticles in inducing the secretions of IL-1β? Safety and efficacy of the combination of pegylated interferon-α2b and dasatinib in newly diagnosed chronic phase chronic myeloid leukemia patients
The addition of pegylated interferon-ɑ2b (PegIFN) to the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) dasatinib yielded promising results in 40 newly diagnosed chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients. At the 3-month mark prior to initiation of PegIFN, 10% of patients achieved a major molecular response (MMR) and 66% achieved a complete cytogenetic remission (CCgR). Review: Gold nanoparticle surface functionalization: mixed monolayer versus hetero bifunctional PEG linker
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have the potential for early detection, accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment of cancer, which have been exploited for various treatment modalities including photothermal ablation therapy, radio sensitization, imaging and drug delivery. To create a clinically relevant AuNP treatment, the surface must be functionalized with multiple ligands such as drugs, antifouling agents and targeting moieties. Review: Onto better TRAILs for cancer treatment
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL), a member of the TNF cytokine superfamily, has been described to be capable of inducing apoptosis selectively in cancer cells. This review summarizes second-generation novel formulations of TRAIL and other TRAIL-R agonists, which exhibit enhanced cytotoxic capacity toward cancer cells. PEGylated versions using site-specific N-terminal PEGylation of izTRAIL showed widely improved pharmacokinetic profiles in vivo and, furthermore, greatly augmented stability and solubility under physiological conditions.
