The effect of PEGylation on the stimulation of IL-1β by gold (Au) nanoshell/silica core nanoparticles
How would PEGylation affect the generation and scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) by Au nanoshell/silica core (GNS) nanoparticles? Would PEG attenuate or enhance the ability of GNS nanoparticles in inducing the secretions of IL-1β? The new results show that surface modification of GNS nanoparticles or other nanoparticles by PEGylation can potentially reduce the probability of stimulating the production of ROS and IL-1β.
